Captive Insurance Alternatives, based in Dana Point, California, provides strategic consulting services to employers or groups of employers on the use of captive insurance facilities for coverages such as workers compensation, property liability, professional liability, and general liability. They design tailored captive solutions to help business owners create and sustain a competitive advantage through captive insurance formation and continue to work with clients after the formation, providing customizable levels of service for all programs. CIA was incorporated in early 2002.

David L. McDaniel is Executive Director of Captive Insurance Alternatives, LLC. David is a 30 year insurance industry veteran, employed by such companies as American General, US Facilities Corporation, and AIG. His experience includes underwriting, modeling financial projections using Discounted Cash Flow Analysis, the creation of Pro Formas for new company and growth impact scenarios, applying various quantitative methodologies to determine the adequacy of company reserves; claims analysis, regulatory compliance, and premium adequacy studies. He has established captives for companies such as Massachusetts Plate Glass Insurance Company, Pacific Physician Services, P&M Healthcare, Cairnstone Re, Medcon, and others.

Holding a BS degree in finance and economics, as well as his MBA in finance, he is also:
